About Lauren
Lauren Stern, OTR/L is a pediatric New York State registered and licensed Occupational Therapist. She is also a handwriting specialist, certified through Handwriting Without Tears®. Lauren has a special interest in Sensory Integration and is certified to administer and interpret the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT). She is also trained in the Therapeutic Listening®.
Lauren has over twenty years of experience providing children with evaluations and specialized treatment for handwriting problems, fine motor delays, visual motor difficulties and a variety of sensory integration deficits. Lauren is passionate about her work and enters each session with enthusiasm, devotion and focus. She feels that collaboration with parents is essential, as their involvement in the treatment process optimizes their child’s success.
Lauren has consulted with the Early Intervention programs of Stepping Stone Day School and Lifestart in Manhattan. She was a staff therapist at the YAI/NYL Gramercy School for nine years where she supervised graduate students and twice received the School’s Therapist of Excellence Award, exemplifying her dedication and passion for Occupational Therapy.
Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the State University of Buffalo, where she graduated cum laude. She remains current in treatment techniques, and routinely provides in-service trainings for YAI’s professional development on topics such as handwriting development, fine motor development and sensory integrative dysfunction and treatment.
